In the Conference Hall of the University of the Aegean a speech was given by Dr. Tonia Moropoulou, Professor at the Athens School of Polytechnics, on: «The Contribution of the Athens School of Polytechnics in the Preservation and Earthquake Protection of The Church of Aghia Sofia in Constantinople».
The work of the team of Mrs. Moropoulou and the analysis of the construction materials of the monument, have also proved, that the bricks and tiles used for the elaborated unique cupola of the Church of Aghia Sophia, dedicated to the Wisdom of God, rebuilt in the 6th century by the great Emperor Justinian, were made in Rhodes and had been chosen as being of good quality, very light and of equal weight.
