The House of Europe in Rhodes

Within the contest of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008 and the Program «1001 actions pour le Dialogue» of the Euro-mediterranean Anna Lindh Foundation and in collaboration with the International Centre for Black Sea Studies and the Postgraduate Program: Political, Economic and International Relations in the Mediterranean of the University of the Aegean the House of Europe in Rhodes has organized a One Day Conference at the Museum of Modern Art «Nestoridion Melathron» on the following issue: «Mosaic of Cultures: East-West Dialogue».

Τhe opening of the Conference was proclaimed by the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs and Deputy of the Dodecanese islands Mr. Yannis Valinakis.

Speakers and Issue Titles:

  • Hassan Badawi, Auxiliary Professor of Arabic and Byzantine History, from the University of Thessaloniki «West and East in the Middle East. Communication Language: Greek».
  • Spyros Syropoulos, Auxiliary Professor of Ancient Greek Literature with emphasis on the Historic Ancient, Vice-president of the International Centre of Writers and Translators of Rhodes and Collaborating Member of the Greek Opened University «From Plural to Singular. From the Dialogue of Cultures to the Dialogue of Culture».
  • Hercules Millas, Dr of International Relations, Civil Engineer and Writer «Is there ‘an East’ and ‘a West’? Mosaic or marbled paper?».
  • Stephanos Vallianatos, Coordinator of the Greek National Network of the Euro-Mediterranean Anna Lindh Foundation «The Intercultural Dialogue within the context of the Euro-Mediterranean Collaboration».

A special DVD with a message from the Anna Lindh Foundation was projected.
