The House of Europe will participate and support the Day Conference organized by the University of the Aegean, the Faculty of Mediterranean Studies which is known with the general title «MARE NOSTRUM IV» and which is organized for the fourth consecutive year and will deal with: «Matters of Security in the Wider Zone of the Middle East and North of Africa».
It will take place on Thursday 23 May 2013, from 10.30h to 18.00h in the Conference room of the Dodecanese Chamber of Commerce.

In a period of time characterized by regional conflicts, social agitations, revolts and the suffering of most of the countries’ economies, the Mediterranean Sea is again the centre of all this. It is the meeting point of the Balcans, the Middle Eastern countries, Europe and North Africa. The challenges and the opportunities are varied and numerous.
In this climate the Faculty of Mediterranean Studies and in particular the direction of International Relations & Organizations of the University of the Aegean, once more stand at their natural position opposite to the facts which unfold within the wider mediterranean space, organizing for the 4th time this yearly conference MARE NOSTRUM.
This effort becomes possible with the contribution of pre-graduate, post-graduate or graduate students and the teaching personnel of the Faculty. The organization of the Conference is by itself a proof of the contribution, the zeal and the skills of the Faculty in the analysis and explanation of the political, social and economic facts which take place around the Mediterranean and has been enriched with the creation of a Centre of Studies of Mediterranean – Middle-eastern Policy and Culture (KEMMEP- www.kemmep.gr) which participates in this year’s conference.
This Day-conference continues to preserve its independance from political parties and other political spaces remaining opened to particular approach of every individual who participates.
