The House of Europe in Rhodes, with its President, Michalis Kavuklis, participated in the Annual Meeting of the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean National Network for the Dialogue between Cultures, held in Thessaloniki on 26 and 27 September 2015, and attended by more than 30 organizations from all over Greece. Rhodes was also represented by Mrs. Katie Castrouni on behalf of the International Piano Forum and Eleni Phitili from the Municipality of Rhodes.

Through an election process among more than 150 members of the National Network, three focal points were selected: Impact Hub Athens based in Athens, with competence in Southern Greece, the Ionian and Crete, Information and Documentation Center on Racism, Ecology, Irene and Non Violence “ANTIGONI” from Thessaloniki, with competence in Northern Greece, and the House of Europe in Rhodes, with jurisdiction over the Aegean islands. The aim of the focal points is to represent the Network in their areas of responsibility and to coordinate the members of their region for joint actions and the dissemination of the values advocated by the Anna Lindh Foundation.

The Anna Lindh Foundation is the first Euro-Mediterranean Partner Organization and has been created by 37 Member States. It was established in November 2004 and is jointly funded by the 37 Member States of the Co-operation with Economic Assistance and the European Commission. It is essentially a body created to promote the intellectual, social and cultural dialogue between the participating countries, as well as the adoption of a behavior of hospitality and respect.

The Foundation operates as a Network of Networks, 37 National Networks. Members of these networks can become non-governmental organizations and other cultural institutions interested in the Foundation’s aims. In order to better serve its purposes, it seeks to work closely with Local Government bodies, SMEs as well as with other private and governmental cultural institutions. The Hellenic Foundation for Culture is the head and coordinator of the Greek National Network, co-chaired by the non-profit organization “United Nations of the Balkans”.
