At four points on the horizon, 4 European non-governmental organizations invite 24 young active Europeans and Europeans into a series of challenges for the future of Europe.
Young people from Sweden, Romania, Germany and Greece, aged 18 to 27, start a unique trip from Rhodes. Their aim is to meet the challenges faced by Europe, to discuss (again) the core of its values, and to jointly address issues such as immigration, xenophobia, and the future of democracy and the active participation of citizens in shaping of the Common European Future.
The start is in September in Rhodes where the selected group will be found for a week (4-10 / 09/2016) in the village of Monolithos and the cozy Thomas Hotel. At the end of February 2017, the trip will take participants to Sweden, in autumn 2017 in Romania and 2018 in Germany. A unique experience for participants to travel from Rhodes (the South of Europe) to every single part of the horizon.
The Camp Democracy 1 program is organized by the House of Europe in Rhodes, the House of Europe in Gavlborg, Sweden, and the Office of the Educational Union of Workers, the Institute for Digital Governance from Romania and the House of Europe in Marienberg, Germany and funded by the European Union’s Erasmus + program.
The aim of the program is to bring together young adults from four different corners of Europe, North (Sweden), South (Greece), East (Romania) and West (Germany) to work on topics that are fundamental to the future of Europe. The central core of the process is to share participants with their different experiences and opinions, discuss solutions with different approaches, become more active politically and socially and understand the decision-making process and how the EU works today. In addition, through good practices and examples, and using digital media such as social networks, they will have the opportunity to spread their experience and knowledge to their local community.
At the same time, participants will have the opportunity to network at European level, discover different countries and cultures, train, develop, broaden their way of thinking, make new friends and of course have fun.
