EUNET participated in the annual General Assembly and Conference of the European Network for Education and Training – EUNET with a four-member mission from the House of Europe in Rhodes, namely the President of the Board, Michalis Kavuklis, the Honorary President of the House and a member of the Board of Directors. Marilena Sokianou, EUNET Board Member of the House, Maria-Eliza Theodorou and George Minas.
The General Assembly and the EUNET conference held in Budapest, Hungary on October 19-22, 2017 and included networking workshops as well as workshops.
At the end of the General Assembly, EUNET President Richard Stock awarded the Founding and Honorary President of the House of Europe in Rhodes and an outgoing Board member. of the European Network, Ms. Marilena Sokianou, for her ten years of promoting a United Europe! Ms. Sokianou served on the Board from 2007 to 2017, serving both as a member and as an elected Vice President. Corresponding awards were received by the other two departing board members. Hanns Christhard Eichhorst and Wolfgang Forthofer.
During the General Assembly the Network has grown even further, welcoming new members, now reaching 78 in 25 European countries. In the elections that followed to elect the new Board of Directors, a member of the Board of Directors. was elected President of the House of Europe in Rhodes, Michalis Kavouklis, maintaining the representation of Rhodes, Greece and the European South in the seven-member governing body, one of the major promoters of European Identity, which participates as observer in various European Union and the Council of Europe, and participates in central evaluations and reformats of programs such as Erasmus +. At the same time, in Budapest, for the first time, its coordinating body READ IT – Active Citizens in Rural Areas, which brings together actors from six countries: France, Germany, Sweden, Poland, the Netherlands and Greece (via the House of Europe in Rhodes) ) and aims to promote and exchange good practices by people living in rural and remote areas and to foster those areas of growth and sustainability. The contribution of the House to this project is significant, as it promotes the insularity dimension to the objectives of the program. The project is funded by Erasmus +, includes four international meetings (France, Sweden, Greece / Rhodes and Poland) and various local actions. More information will be announced soon. Significant was the participation in other workshops of the conference, with new collaborations emerging, which will soon bring material in Greek for example, in the field of e-Twinning.
