The Anna Lindh Foundation Greek Network and the House of Europe in Rhodes are organizing a debate event within the framework of the Anna Lindh Foundation’s flagship program, Young Mediterranean Voices. This program aims to empower youth in the Mediterranean by training them in debating skills and developing their leadership skills so that they can participate equally in public dialogue, promote dialogue between the North and the South, as well as the common issues that concern youth on both sides of the Mediterranean.

This is the first such action by the Anna Lindh Foundation in Greece, merely a first step in the development of this program in Greece, namely the training of trainers and debaters, the creation of relevant clubs and corresponding local and national competitions, and in continued participation in regional competitions and related actions. The action is being held at the 9th International Conference on Regional International Organizations Simulation – RhodesMRC 2018, as representatives from 13 schools and universities will be in Rhodes.

For the October action, we are looking for two people to take part in the debate to be held on Friday October 12, a debate consisting of two mixed groups of two, each group consisting of one person from Greece and one person from the Arab World. The action will take place in English and the subject has not yet been determined. The two individuals will have the opportunity to briefly learn the pattern used by the Anna Lindh Foundation (developed by the British Council), will be webinars and then meet with their experienced South teammates from South, both online and during the RhodesMRC but also before the debate.

Excellent English use and knowledge, experience and familiarity with debates or rhetoric as well as applicants’ communication ability and international knowledge are required. Applicants are also invited to submit RhodesMRC 2018, as they pledge that their participation in the event will not adversely affect their preparation and performance at the conference. Candidates must be 18-25 years old and be in Rhodes between 10-12 October, 2018.

Interested parties are kindly requested to send their CV and letter of interest in English by Monday 24/9, at info@houseofeurope-rhodes.eu.
